James Grant
Founder & Head of School
Rev. James Grant serves as Head of School at Regents, where he is leading the development of a classical Christian education centered on wisdom, virtue, and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. A native Chattanoogan and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America, James has served in pastoral ministry for more than thirty years and is the author of 1–2 Thessalonians: The Hope of Salvation in Crossway’s Preaching the Word commentary series.
He earned his Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary and has taught humanities, theology, and classical studies at Westminster Academy, the Center for Western Studies, and Classical Conversations. James and his wife, Brandy, have four children, all of whom have been educated within the classical Christian tradition. Rev. Grant will be teaching Foundations, Biblical Theology, and Classical Composition.
Sandra Sandhoff
Mathematics
Mrs. Sandra Sandhoff has more than 20 years of teaching experience in public, private, and homeschool settings. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and her master’s degree from Covenant College.
Passionate about revealing the beauty of God’s creation through mathematics, Mrs. Sandhoff believes every student can grow in confidence and mathematical understanding. Having taught everything from fifth grade through Algebra II, she enjoys helping middle school students build strong foundations while discovering the joy of problem-solving.
Guided by her Christian faith, she seeks to make mathematics engaging, accessible, and meaningful. She is perhaps best known for breaking into song, or even dance, to help students remember important concepts.
Charlotte Estabrook
Biology
Mrs. Charlotte Eastabrook has spent more than thirty years teaching in public, private, and homeschool settings throughout the Chattanooga area. After beginning her professional career in social work, she discovered her calling as an educator. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Florida State University and her Master of Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Charlotte is a certified Master Gardener with additional certification in Tennessee native plants. At Regents, she teaches Biology through careful observation, hands-on laboratory work, and thoughtful inquiry, helping students discover the beauty of God's created world.
Charlotte and her husband, Mark, have been married for more than forty-five years and are members of the Anglican Church of the Redeemer. They live on Signal Mountain and enjoy the forests and native landscapes of the Cumberland Plateau.
David Beckmann
Logic and Latin
Rev. David Beckmann earned a B.A. from the University of South Carolina, an M.Div. from Covenant Theological Seminary, and completed studies in Ecclesiastical Latin at Whitefield Theological Seminary. He has taught Latin and Logic in the Chattanooga area for many years, including seven years teaching Latin at Chattanooga Christian School. He has also taught Bible and Philosophy at Covenant College, Classical Mythology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and the life and works of C. S. Lewis at Lee University.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, David has been a faithful advocate for classical Christian education throughout the region. After many years of ministry in the Presbyterian Church in America, he now serves as an assisting priest at Anglican Church of the Redeemer. David and his wife, Sheila, have one son, Paul, and three granddaughters.
Chase Waller
Classical History
Chase Waller earned a B.A. in History, with a minor in English, from Covenant College before completing a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts (M.A.L.A.) at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. He previously taught history and served as a dorm parent at Baylor School before joining the Logos Tutoring Program, where he has continued to cultivate a love for classical education through seminar-based learning and close engagement with great books.
Chase is especially interested in the civilizations of antiquity, the writings of Herodotus, and the classical world. He enjoys helping students wrestle with enduring questions of history, culture, and human nature through thoughtful discussion and careful reading. He and his wife, Sammie, live on a small farm in Rossville, Georgia, with their daughter, Wendy.
Phil Hanner
Founder & Teaching Fellow
Rev. Phil Henner serves as Founding Chairman of the Board of Regents Classical School and has served as Lead Rector of Anglican Church of the Redeemer since 2018. Prior to coming to Redeemer, he served as Associate Rector at St. John’s in Philadelphia and worked in counseling and social services for at-risk children. He received his M.Div. from Westminster Seminary.
Phil earned his BA in Wildlife Biology at Virginian Tech, giving him a strong foundation in the biological sciences. At Regents, he serves as Teaching Fellow, assisting with the Biology program and supporting the faculty and students where needed.
