The Christian Tradition at Regents

Regents Classical School stands within the historic Christian tradition and seeks to cultivate students whose loves, imaginations, intellects, and lives are formed in light of the truth of Jesus Christ.

We believe that Christian education is not merely the transfer of information, but the formation of the whole person. The life of the mind, the cultivation of virtue, the ordering of the affections, participation in worship, and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty all belong to the work of Christian formation.

For this reason, the Nicene Creed serves as the central confession of faith within the life of the school.

The Nicene Creed

For centuries, the Nicene Creed has functioned not merely as a statement of abstract belief, but as a shared confession shaping the worship, imagination, and common life of the Christian Church.

Originally confessed within the liturgy of the Church, the Creed formed Christians within a living tradition rooted in Scripture, worship, discipleship, and communion with the Triune God.

At Regents Classical School, we stand within this historic Christian tradition and joyfully confess the Nicene Creed as a faithful summary of the Christian faith.

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Christian Formation at Regents

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God and seek to form students who read, interpret, and live faithfully under their authority.

We believe that human beings are created in the image of God and that Christian education should cultivate wisdom, virtue, responsibility, and faithful living.

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and that all true education ultimately finds its fulfillment in Him.

We believe that Christ is Lord over every sphere of life, including education, family, vocation, culture, and society.

We believe that truth, goodness, and beauty find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ and that education should train students to recognize, love, and pursue these realities.

We believe that Christian formation involves the cultivation of habits, loves, affections, attention, discipline, and intellectual virtue.

We believe that parents bear primary responsibility for the education and formation of their children and that the school exists in meaningful partnership with families.

We believe that participation in the life of the Church is central to Christian formation and encourage active involvement in faithful local congregations.

Leadership & Ecclesial Accountability

Regents Classical School is intentionally rooted in the historic Christian tradition while serving families from a variety of faithful Christian churches.

The leadership of the school remains accountable to historic ecclesial traditions and ordained ministry commitments.

Rev. Phil Hanner, Chairman of the Board, serves as the Rector of Anglican Church of the Redeemer and remains under the doctrinal commitments and ecclesial authority of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).

Rev. James Grant, Head of School, is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and remains under the doctrinal commitments and ecclesial authority of the PCA.

Regents Classical School is not governed by a single denomination. Rather, the school seeks to operate within the broad stream of historic Nicene Christianity while drawing wisdom from the classical Protestant and broader catholic Christian traditions.

Within the bounds of historic Christian orthodoxy, Regents seeks to cultivate humility, wisdom, charity, and thoughtful engagement among students, faculty, and families.
